Wexler Gallery is pleased to host a pre-exhibition studio open house with Brazilian-American artist Marcus Vinícius De Paula in advance of his upcoming solo exhibition, Interstice: Thresholds Carved with Light and Time. Located at 25 Jay Street, Suite 301, in DUMBO, Brooklyn, guests are invited to preview a selection of new works prior to their installation and to meet the artist in the context of his working environment.

The open house offers an early look at a new body of stone sculptures that define De Paula’s practice—monumental forms carved from volcanic rock, granite, alabaster, and marble, each embedded with integrated light sources. These works transform dense, ancient materials into luminous objects that shift between solidity and immateriality, reflecting the artist’s ongoing exploration of geological time, perception, and the human experience within a vast cosmic scale.

Shaped by a background that bridges art and engineering, De Paula brings together material sensitivity and technical precision in sculptures that function as both objects and spatial experiences. He treats light as an essential sculptural medium, embedding it directly into stone to reveal internal structures and create moments of perceptual transformation.

Installed in the studio prior to their presentation in Interstice, the works can be experienced in a more intimate and process-driven context. Visitors will have the opportunity to engage directly with the artist and gain insight into the conceptual and technical development of the exhibition.
