San Pietro Mirror
stone finish and smoked mirror
44.5 x 43.25 in (113 x 110 cm)
Inspired by Michelangelo’s original floor plan for the new Basilica of St. Peter, this mirror translates one of the most powerful architectural icons of Rome into a sculptural object. Ancient in its design and contemporary in its translation, the piece draws from the blueprint itself — the moment where geometry, proportion, and intention first converge. The historic plan is rendered through a precise intarsia of green marble and smoked mirror, meticulously cut to replicate the exact geometry of the original drawing. Both delicate and monumental, the composition transforms architectural language into material presence. A warm, diffused light emanates from the back, enhancing depth and giving the object a quiet, contemplative aura. San Pietro transcends time, celebrating a Renaissance master and his masterpiece through the refined lens of contemporary collectible design.
