Anthony Tammaro, Study for Vessel Form, 2010

In correlation with DesignPhiladelphia 2010, Wexler Gallery proudly presents an exhibition of innovative tabletop vessel forms by cutting edge designer Anthony Tammaro.   The exhibition will take place on the second floor of the gallery and will run October 1 - 30, 2010.

Anthony Tammaro’smost recent body of work explores the concepts of mass consumption, mass production, and the tabletop vessel in the historical sense.  Taking advantage of a number of technological advances which have developed over the past decade, the artist will produce a series of various plastic vessels, produced with a low-tech rotomolding processes.  The Tabletop Vessel Series will question the relationship between craft based production practices and the typical modern mass production process of throwaway plastic consumer products, exploring a number of aesthetic and conceptual avenues.

Wexler Gallery is proud to host In My Body; a retrospective exhibition of 20 years of work by Philadelphia based photographer and mixed media artist Leah Macdonald.  Inspired by the theme of Michael Biello and Dan Martin’s song titled “In My Body”, the exhibit will celebrate the diversity and beauty of the female form while considering ideas about self perception, body image, and human emotion. In correlation with the exhibition, a traveling multidisciplinary performance piece by longtime collaborators Michael Biello, Dan Martin, and Melanie Stewart will debut during a private reception at the gallery.

Curated by art advocate and patron Lis Kalogris, this exhibition is made possible by the generous support of The KatherineAlexandra Foundation (www.katherinealexandra.org).  Show will run November 5th through December 31st 2010.  A public opening reception will take place on First Friday, December 3rd from 5-8pm.
