Artist Statement
I explore change as both a process and emotional necessity, connecting the influences of physical transformations upon thoughts and feelings. My work articulates what is undefined, that of beginnings and endings, disintegration and accumulations, aging and regeneration.
Paintings on paper describe the physical basis of emotions by mapping out molecular patterns generated in our brains when we arrive at various states of mind. Color systems express variations of shifting moods within the obsessive chatter of internal monologues. Embedded constellations are sewn directly onto the paper to emphasize a universe erupting from our minds, binding the infinite to the restricted. In addition, excised map fragments are attached to the compositions as locational displacements, intruding upon a private world.
